Malnutrition Program
Mabriol is facing a critical situation in terms of childhood malnutrition, and we need your help. Many children in this community are suffering from severe malnutrition and lack access to essential medical treatment and transportation to hospitals. It is our mission at FOCOMAH to change this reality and bring hope and health back to these families.
Your support can make a significant difference. Together, we can help create happier, healthier families in Mabriol by providing the necessary nutritional support.
We are seeking donations of essential supplies, specifically:

Akamil: A Lifesaving Nutritional Staple in Haiti

Current Critical Case in the Malnutrition Program
This infant boy, Christopher Jean-Baptiste, was brought to the FOCOMAH clinic in Mabriel by his Mother after she reached out for urgent help. We received this photo in December 2025 from Nurse Nathalie. With approval from our CEO, Mrs. Jeannette Jean-Pierre, the nurse’s initial assessment showed severe malnutrition and an urgent need for medical and nutritional support.
FOCOMAH reacted immediately and sent $100 (converted to Haitian gourdes) for emergency needs. With those funds, the mother received food and protein, diapers, clothing, and Gallia infant formula to help stabilize Christopher.
Nurse Nathalie has assessed him and is keeping in regular contact with his mother; we are now waiting for follow-up on his condition.

Unsuccessful Story: Richardson Orvilus
In October 2025, a child suffering from severe malnutrition was brought to the FOCOMAH Clinic in Mabriol, Haiti. Because his condition was critical, he was immediately transferred to a hospital in Jacmel, where he remained under medical care for three weeks. The hospital did not have a pediatrician, so our nurse, Natalie, arranged and paid for a private pediatrician to examine him.
The doctor explained that the child required feeding through a feeding tube, but this treatment was not possible due to limited medical resources in the country. The doctor also noted that if the child had been transferred to a better-equipped hospital, he might have survived longer. Sadly, despite all efforts, the child’s condition continued to deteriorate, and he could not be saved. During his final days, the child’s mother and older sister stayed by his bedside, witnessing his struggle, but despite all that could be done, he passed away.
A total of $360 was spent on hospital expenses and transporting the child’s body back to his community. After the burial, the child’s mother visited the FOCOMAH Clinic in Mabriol several times to thank the staff for their efforts to save her son. Unfortunately, despite every attempt to help him, the child did not survive due to the lack of medical resources in Haiti.

Nurse Nathalie: Hello, good afternoon, everyone at FOCOMAH. We want to say thank you for the support you continue to give to the people of Mabriel, Haiti. This lady is the mother of the child who was brought to the FOCOMAH clinic. We received a donation from Madame Antoinette, she sent $20 for her, and I have already given the $20 to the mother. Please say thank you to Madame Antoinette and Jeannette and let them know you received it.
Child’s mother: Thank you, Madame Antoinette and Madame Jeannette, for the support you sent for the baby.
Nurse Nathalie: Another woman sent money for me to buy food for them. I promised I would use it for that, so I purchased protein to feed the baby. We also have diapers, clothes, and Gallia milk to help care for the baby. We will stay in contact for follow-up. Thank you.

Success Story: Genese Desfournoire
Meet Genese Desfournoire, a 24-month-old boy who came to our clinic seeking help with his mother. Upon evaluation by our dedicated nurse, Ms. Nathalie, it was determined that Genese was severely malnourished and required urgent medical attention. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Ms. Nathalie promptly reached out to our CEO, Ms. Jeannette Jean Pierre, to provide an update.
Thanks to the compassionate support of FOCOMAH members, we were able to arrange emergency transportation for Genese and his mother to the hospital, as well as cover the costs for his treatment. This timely intervention not only provided Genese with the medical care he desperately needed but also brought hope to his family.
At FOCOMAH, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of children like Genese.
